Back Catalog Overview
The following is a list of projects that I'm still excited to show even though they are from a few years back. They range from Catalogs to Packaging to CD-ROMs to Posters to Direct Mail to Product Design. Most of this work was completed between 1995-1999 and has been nominated and/or won awards and recognition.

Madd Mikes Direct Mail Campaign
Madd Mike's
Zoom

Back when Nirvana was hot and the grunge scene was just hitting the Boston, Madd Mikes approached me about developing a "look and feel" that would uniquely represent the snowboard division and target a very suspicious and pessimistic audience. This series won numerous type awards.

Messy Snowboard Desgin
Messy
Zoom

Messy is a Japanese-based company who was looking to break into the snowboarding industry with boards and designs created in America for the Japanese market. The first series was a set of 3 different sizes and designs which had quirky "American-based" graphics (solider, toaster and rocket ship).

Smithsonian Internship Recruitment Poster
Smithsonian
Zoom

The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory was experiencing low internship response rates for their summer programs. Using space, navigation and typography montages, I created a modern approach that successfully targeted the "MTV" audience. This poster has had 4 reprints.

Spaziani Photography Identity & Stationary System
Spaziani
Zoom

Fred Spaziani, a prominent Boston photographer, asked me to create his stationary system. The only mandate was that it had to differentiate him from the competition. Light, texture and transparency were a few of the themes that led to this completely transparent, award winning stationary system.

High Wind Center Margarita (HWCM) Brochure
High Wind Center Margarita
Zoom

One of the best locations on the planet for wind surfing is Margarita Island , Venezuela . This is "white knuckle" surfing and the brochure fulfillment piece had to speak to this die-hard audience. With oversized type and format this logo-less covered brochure was just the ticket.

MIT Graduate School Public Arts Brochure
MIT
Zoom

One of the few times in my career when a client's feedback was to "make it denser and harder to decipher." This program was created to help students think about public art from a different perspective. The brochure mimicked that theme with dense layers, imagery and overlapping typography.

Sumptuous Foods Communications Kit
Sumptuous Foods
Zoom

Sumptuous Foods was a high-end catering company located in Somerville, MA. Not your average catering company, they had an appreciation for the flamboyant and extravagant. I created this system with them in mind. The look and feel extended to signage, packaging and menus.

Here, Eat This Promotional Piece
Here, Eat This
Zoom

Here, Eat This was the corporate catering arm of Sumptuous Foods. They asked for a promotional leave-behind piece that wouldn't fail them. I created a giant take-out container with theme-related imagery. To win accounts, they would hand deliver the piece with some cookies and a menu.

Easel Corporation Tradeshow brand/direct mail
Easel Corporation
Zoom

Easel asked me to create a 7-piece postcard system for their "Object Studio" software release party. With abstract imagery and heavily layered typography picking up the product attributes, these were deployed one/week, each with a small piece of the message. These were produced in 4 languages.

BaseSix Corporate Website
BaseSix
Zoom

While a creative director at BaseSix, one of the many internal projects I worked on was re-branding and redesigning the corporate website. The asymmetrical dividers throughout the studio provided some good imagery for the home page.

UMass Medical Clinical Performance System
UMass Medical
Zoom

UMM staff needed a strategy and system to evaluate and rate each other's performance. This highly sensitive subject was offset by design and visuals that messaged "Team", "Healthy Competitiveness" and "Unity" as alternative ways to think about and participate in the program.
