'Tis the Season
| 11.27.2004
If you’re like most people, you’re probably starting to think about who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. If you’re like me (I wouldn’t wish that on anyone), you’ll be searching the globe for the most unique gift(s) for that special person on your list. This year I chose to concentrate on confectionaries. In an effort to baseline ourselves, lets get a few things out of the way. If you’re into Dancing Deer Cookies, Hickory Farms gift baskets or Godiva Chocolates, you can stop reading now. Yes. I’ve been called a "Foodie snob" many times but this isn’t about conveniently picking up a “practical” gift while shopping at the mall. This is about finding and giving that one of a kind gift that no one knew existed. This season, I’m highlighting 2 exquisite edible delights.
The first comes to us from Arlington Massachusetts. Her name is Jenna and her cookie company is called Jenna b Cookies. These are not your grandmother’s cookies. These are for hip people on the “in” who either want to “binge” on an extraordinary cookies or want to look like a hero to whoever they give them to for the holiday. Using ingredients like Earl Grey, White Pepper, Lavender and Valrhona Chocolate will set these apart from any other cookie you ever tasted. Martha would be so lucky.
The Chocolates by Choco Choco House are possibly the most style conscious chocolates ever made. Based in Somerville, MA, these chocolatiers are molding and designing their treats in the shapes of famous pocketbooks and shoes. That’s right, you heard me correctly. Want a Prada purse or a hip pair of shoes made out of dark chocolate with crystallized mint and lilac?
